Growing Strong

18/06/2014
In week 1 of this term Students in the year 4 – 7 class at Poruma Campus prepared and planted the school gardens with a combination of corn and tomato seeds. Each day since then they have been responsible for maintaining their patch by watering and weeding. Each week they record the growth and progress of their plants and put this into a table to be plotted on a graph. The boys are in fierce competition with the girls to see who produces the best corn and tomatoes come harvest time. At the end of week 8 the girl’s tomato plants were on average the tallest and bushiest while the boys stand of corn is looking slightly stronger and healthier. One corn plant has grown a massive 32 cm in just the past week.
