Skin Sores and Kidney Sickness

Right now there are plenty of children with skin sores. Skin sores spread from person to person easily. Skin sores can lead to serious kidney sickness (acute post streptococcal glomerulonephritis) or serious heart sickness (rheumatic fever and heart disease).

Stop skin sores by:
  • Having a bath everyday with plenty of soap
  • Washing hands often
  • Covering all sores with a dressing
  • Washing bed sheets, towels and clothes
  • Cut children’s fingernails (helps stop problems children from scratching sores)
  • Take your child to the health centre if they have sores
