St Paul's Green Thumbs Club

19/06/2015
The year 2/3/4 class at St Pauls Campus have started a gardening club called the “Green Thumbs”. We have learnt how to grow plants from seed, what plants need to survive, how to care for a seedling and how to transfer these small plants into the ground. Last Friday we worked with My Pathways and community members and replanted our plants into the community garden. The children really enjoyed this experience and it was great to see so many community members having fun with the kids and getting their hands into the soil. The children will continue to help in the community garden every fortnight, by planting more delicious fruits and vegetables, watering plants, weeding and building garden beds. This not only teaches children the valuable lesson of where our nutritious food comes from but also provides a great opportunity to work with the elders, parents and other members of the community. We would like to say a big thank you to Paster John, George Saveka and all the community members who have been helping the “Green Thumbs Club” so far.
